The Center for Theoretical Physics was founded in March 1968, becoming one of the first centers for theoretical physics established in the United States. The Center, now in its 53rd year is an institution committed to collaboration in all of the major areas of theory research.

For our current graduate students and future students interested in finding out what the program entails, please look here
- The CTP is located in the Green Center for Physics, on the 3rd and 4th floors of Buildings 6 & 6C. When MIT and the CTP re-open fully, you will be able to find us by going to building 10 (under the great dome) and walking up to the east end of the 3rd floor (“infinite”) corridor. The CTP will be on your right.
